Grants Management Profile

The Universities Fund Grants Management Department (GMD) is responsible for apportioning funds to universities in Kenya. This is done as per an established criterion that ensures equality, fairness, transparency and sustainability in the university sector. Currently, the Fund uses the Differentiated Unit Criterion (DUC) to apportion funds to universities. The criterion allocated funds based on the student numbers and the courses the respective students are undertaking. The department is headed by an Assistant Director who works closely with the principal and senior grants management officers.
