Kenya’s National Tree Growing Restoration Campaign is gaining steam following the planting of 3,500 trees at Nambale Boys High School.

Joint efforts by Universities Fund (UF), Kenya Forest Service and the school fraternity saw the planting of the trees to promote environmental conservation and combat climate change.

The Fund also utilised the 15th May 2026 drive to sensitise the students and teachers about the Student-Centred Funding Model and youth empowerment efforts through education financing.

Students participated in the planting exercise, working alongside facilitators to dig, plant and water the trees.

The Fund promoted awareness about scholarship eligibility and application process, and other available support mechanisms for students enrolling for higher education programmes.

The activity is part of the Fund’s robust publicity efforts to increase the number of students applying for scholarships, inform and educate stakeholders on scholarship opportunities, and drive applications for KUCCPS placement as the gateway to accessing the scholarships.

The initiative will help the students preparing to transition to tertiary education after sitting the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) later this year to make informed decisions about their academic future and careers choices.
